AEW Dynamite Rating Expected To Plummet Due To World Series

AEW Dynamite is likely to receive low viewership for the most recent episode of Dynamite.

Although the November 1st episode of Dynamite ran in its normal day and timeslot, there was extremely strong competition from Major League Baseball. The 5th game that ultimately decided The World Series was broadcast alongside Dynamite, which saw the Texas Rangers clinch the decisive 4th victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that as it was the deciding game, the ratings are likely to be substantially below average:

Well, you know, I tell you what man, AEW tonight, they had to go against the second no-hitter in the history of the World Series tonight. And it was the deciding game, the you know, the End of the World Series, you know. So anyway, it’s probably not going to be a good rating tomorrow.

Now that The World Series has ended, future AEW programming will be unaffected by this. If games 6 and 7 were required, they were pencilled in for November 3rd and 4th, airing alongside the next episodes of Rampage and Collision respectively.

The promotion will be hoping for the average weekly rating to rise in the coming weeks as the media rights negotiations are up for renewal very shortly, which has been cited as one of the reasons why Ric Flair made a shock appearance on a recent episode of AEW Dynamite.

AEW’s Low Ratings Continue

The flagship show has seen a dip in viewers in 2023, not breaking the 1 million viewer barrier since February and only achieving it twice in the past year. Despite the in-ring work being strong and the promotion growing with more weekly TV and PPV events compared to 2022, some fans feel that there is something missing and that AEW is not as hot as it used to be.

At one point the promotion was billed as a genuine threat to WWE as the rival promotion had a weaker product at the time. However, the latest opinion within WWE is that AEW will eventually end up like WCW did.
