The latest episode of AEW Dynamite reportedly had to be heavily rewritten after Adam Page tested positive for COVID-19.

Ahead of the April 27th episode of AEW Dynamite in Philadelphia, PA, AEW Champion Adam Page took to social media and announced as only he knows how that he would not be on the show, but that he hoped everyone enjoyed it regardless.

“dynomite is tonight at 8pm on tbs but i will not be on there because my face is full of covid snot, sorry. please enjoy regardless.”

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the episode had to be heavily rewritten once the company learned that its champion had contracted the virus.

“Tonight’s AEW show was heavily rewritten due to Page getting COVID.”

Adam Page was most recently in action on the April 15th episode of Rampage where retained his title in a brutal Texas Deathmatch against Adam Cole.

In search of a new challenger, Page confronted CM Punk on the following Dynamite after the former WWE star had defeated Dustin Rhodes. In recent weeks Punk has been open about his desire to become World Champion, and it was announced on the April 27th episode that Punk will square off with Adam Page for the championship at Double or Nothing in Las Vegas.

After the announcement, Punk said that when he returned to wrestling he wondered whether he could still compete at the highest level, and he has since proved that he can. He added that everything up to now had only been a warm up, and that he wouldn’t be where he is if it wasn’t for the fans.
