AEW Dynamite 5th Anniversary Viewership Out; How Did It Compare With NXT’s CW Network Debut?

AEW Dynamite 5th Anniversary

AEW Dynamite just completed its fifth year yesterday.

Since its inception in 2019, Tony Khan’s promotion has risen immensely and staged itself as a proper competition to WWE. On 2nd October 2024, the promotion’s Wednesday night brand completed its 5th anniversary with several spectacular matches including Ricochet vs Will Ospreay and Bryan Danielson against Kazuchika Okada that went 30 minutes past the usual time.

However, with the viewership numbers now out, it might not have gone so well. Earlier yesterday before the show, All Elite Wrestling announced their new multi-year deal with WBD.

PWTorch reported that the show’s 5th anniversary show drew 680,000 viewers, which is low from last week’s 702,000 viewers during Grand Slam. It also scored a 0.20 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic, down from the 0.23 rating on September 25. Khan’s show finished seventh on cable behind MLB Wild Card Playoff games and Fox News.

Wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer also reported that the 30-minute overrun and two baseball playoff games could have hurt the show’s numbers. While, Dynamite pulled 680,000 viewers on its fifth anniversary, what happened during WWE NXT’s CW Network debut?

WWE NXT’s CW Network Debut Viewership Numbers Against AEW Dynamite

WWE NXT enjoyed a great night during its CW Network debut. The 10/01 show drew big numbers with 895,000 viewers and a significant 44% increase from the 620,000 viewers from the September 24 episode on the USA network. It also posted a 0.26 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic, which also witnessed an increase from the 0.19 demo rating last week.

Compared to Dynamite’s 680,000 viewers, WWE’s third brand ranked ahead with its 895,000 viewers.
