AEW Drops Major Hint Popular Stars Could Leave The Company

AEW Dynamite set

A huge AEW Tag Team Title match has been confirmed with seriously high stakes.

On the March 22nd episode of Dynamite, The Gunns put their titles on the line against Top Flight. In the end, it was Colten and Austin Gunn who retained their titles with more than a little help from The Kingdom who attacked Dante Martin, and the brawl continued after the bell.

With The Kingdom and Top Flight more concerned with each other, FTR’s music hit and they came to the ring. The Gunns said that no one wanted to hear from Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler, and they didn’t respect them.

Despite FTR being determined to regain tag team gold, The Gunns said there was nothing they could do to earn another shot. Despite this, the former champions set about trying to test that theory. Wheeler offered that that pair would split up if they lost, but that stipulation was turned down. Instead, Dax took things a step further, saying that FTR would leave AEW altogether if they were unsuccessful.

This got the job done, and The Gunns agreed, only to spit in FTR’s faces in the process.

The match is leaning heavily into real-life speculation that FTR could leave AEW in April. While this could of course be the company making a story out of nothing and FTR will remain All Elite for years to come, there is also the possibility that this is a way to write them out.

“Loser Leaves Town” matches have existed for decades, and one variant of the stipulation was recently used to explain Jay White’s exit from New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

CM Punk To Return To AEW?

While FTR might be on their way out of AEW, CM Punk could be on the verge of making a remarkable return.

Fresh off the back of Dynamite, it was reported that Punk is “looking to get back” into the promotion, following a six-month exile.
