AEW Signing Shawn Dean

US Navy Veteran ‘Captain’ Shawn Dean has officially signed with AEW following a social media announcement by Tony Khan.

On March 5th, AEW President and CEO Tony Khan would take to Twitter to announce AEW’s latest signing, ‘Captain’ Shawn Dean, also using the announcement to express thanks to the former US Navy Officer for his services to the United States:

‘The Captain’ would react to the announcement via an Instagram post discussing his excitement at the opportunity before stating the work had only really begun:

“Words can’t describe how much this means to me…I gave up sooooo much in pursuit of a dream to become a professional wrestler. I knew it would pay off. And with the support from my wife, kids, family, and friends I was able to stay the course and make MY dream a reality….This is only half the battle…time to continue the course and keep going for more. Thank you all for everything! @tonyrkhan and the entire @allelitewrestling thank you for accepting me into the family!”

Dean has been a constant on AEW’s acclaimed secondary programming, AEW Dark, since his debut in March 2020 and during this time has faced-off against a range of AEW’s incredible talent including names such as; Shawn Spears, MFJ, Sonny Kiss and Dustin Rhodes.

In February of 2021 ‘Captain’, Shawn Dean joined forces with the punderfully named Carlie Bravo to form The Infantry, exciting AEW fans with their incredible in-ring ability and on-the-mic skills.

Carlie [who defeated Dean Alexander at the inaugural Nightmare Factory Showcase event in December 2020] refers to himself as ‘Bad-News in Tattoos and ‘The Personification of the Standing Ovation’ and is a two-time ‘United States Marine Corps Combat Veteran’

The Infantry most recently appeared on the February 18th edition of AEW Dark in a losing effort against veteran tag team TheHybrid2 [Angelico and Lucha Libre Legend Jack Evans].

AEW presents the 2021 Revolution event this Sunday on PPV and features the highly anticipated Exploding Barbed Wire Death Match between Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley, and is available to purchase on FITE.
