AEW Collision Viewership Hits Record Low Against WWE SummerSlam

CM Punk cuts a promo on AEW Collision

AEW Collision saw viewership drop by more than 300,000 on August 5th.

For the first time since the show launched back on June 17th, AEW Collision went head-to-head with a WWE Premium Live Event. While Collision previously aired on the same day as Money In The Bank, due to the WWE event being held in the United Kingdom, it was broadcast in an earlier timeslot.

Leading up to the weekend, many fans wondered what impact SummerSlam would have on Collision, and as expected ratings fell.

As reported by Wrestlenomics, the show pulled in 417,000 viewers which is down from 739,000 the previous week. The show scored a 0.13 rating in the 18-49-year-old demographic which is down from 0.7 on July 29th.

The previous lowest rating came on July 1st, the same day as Money In The Bank.

What Happened On AEW Collision?

Jim Ross returned to the announce desk on the August 5th episode of Collision for the first time since the show’s debut in June. The WWE Hall of Famer had been absent due to a series of ongoing health issues.

Elsewhere, FTR challenged The Young Bucks to a match at AEW All In at Wembley Stadium. Should the match be made official, it will be the third between the two teams many consider to be the best in the world.

There was also another challenge made for AEW’s United Kingdom debut as Samoa Joe set his sights on meeting CM Punk one more time. On the night, Punk picked up a win over Ricky Starks to retain the “real World Championship.”
