AEW Collision Viewership Hits New Low

AEW Collision Segment Blasted As

AEW Collision has slumped to a new low.

As reported by Wrestlenomics, the television ratings for the September 2nd episode of Collision saw the total viewership for the show struggle against tough competition. The episode pulled in 345,000 viewers with a 0.11 rating in the 18-49-year-old demographic.

The number is down from the August 26th episode which drew 552,000 viewers.

It should be noted that the episode went up against WWE Payback and the college football game between LSU and Florida State.

The previous record low came when the show went head-to-head with SummerSlam.

CM Punk Fired In The Hours Before AEW Collision Began

The September 2nd episode of AEW Collision will be remembered for Tony Khan’s appearance in front of a hot Chicago crowd to explain the firing of hometown hero CM Punk. During the address that began the show, Khan said that Punk had been let go after numerous backstage discussions, and ultimately the AEW boss felt he had no choice.

Notably, when Tony Khan’s announcement of CM Punk’s exit was broadcast, 19% of AEW Collision viewers tuned out.

The show also featured an appearance from Chicago Bulls legend Dennis Rodman who ended up smashing a guitar over Jeff Jarrett’s head. Elsewhere, the opening segment set up the in-ring return of Bryan Danielson at All Out 25 hours later, and Dax Harwood went one-on-one with Jay White.
