Skye Blue picked up an ankle injury in last night’s episode of Collision during a singles match against Hikaru Shida.

The injury occurred after an attempted crossbody from Shida to the outside, landing awkwardly on Blue’s left leg. With Blue unable to continue and Shida looking on, the referee called a stop to the match and the former three-time Women’s World Champion was declared the winner.

Social media footage showed Blue being helped to the back for treatment, and Tony Khan took to X to confirm Blue’s ankle injury and wish her the best with her recovery. It’s unclear at this point how long Blue will be sidelined for.

Blue turned heel back in December for the first time in her career, teaming with Julia Hart of the House of Black. Since then, she has challenged for the AEW TBS Championship on an episode of Dynamite in May, where she was defeated by current champion Mercedes Mone.

In a further series of updates, Blue’s partner Kyle Fletcher uploaded a photo to social media that sees the wrestler with her right ankle taped up. Bryan Alvarez also stated on Wrestling Observer Radio that Blue suffered a broken ankle at the taping.

This episode of Collision also saw new champions crowned, as the Patriarchy defeated the Bang Bang Gang to pick up the vacant AEW World Trios titles. Darby Allin kicked off the night with a pinfall over The Beast Mortos, while Chris Jericho and Minoru Suzuki shared words ahead of their FTW Championship match on Wednesday at Blood and Guts.

The AEW star has since undergone surgery.

Another star added to AEW’s injury list

Blue is the latest addition to AEW’s injury concerns. Top talent like Kenny Omega, Adam Cole and Adam Copeland are all nursing long-term injuries, and many more throughout the roster are currently sidelined. The list continued to grow on last week’s episode of Collision, when Orange Cassidy attacked Trent Barreta after the match with a monkey wrench.

In a further update, another AEW star has also suffered an injury shortly after becoming champion.

Everyone at Inside The Ropes would like to wish Skye Blue a full and speedy recovery.
