AEW is changing the start time of an upcoming episode of Collision.
Broadcasting on Saturday nights, AEW Collision ratings tend to suffer when going against WWE PLE’s. Though it normally airs at 8pm Eastern, TNT’s schedule shows that the August 3rd edition of Collision will air at 5pm ET followed by a Star Wars movie marathon. A New Hope will begin at 7pm, with The Empire Strikes Back following.
While no reason is listed for this change, WWE SummerSlam is set to begin at 8pm Eastern on August 3rd, and Collision’s new start time will allow the show to air without direct competition from one of WWE’s largest events of the year.
The August 3rd episode of Collision will be taped in advance on August 1st as part of AEW’s residency in Arlington, TX.
What Does Tony Khan Say About AEW’s Negotiations With WBD?
All Elite Wrestling has yet to sign a new media rights deal with partner Warner Bros Discovery. Tony Khan has always insisted that the company’s relationship with WBD is a positive one, and speaking in a recent interview with SportsGrid, he expressed optimism about their negotiations. Khan said:
“It’s going to be a huge thing. It will mean that all the investment into AEW has more than paid off. It will mean a very secure future for AEW for a very long time to come. We’re going to get a great media rights deal, we’re having great conversations here, and we have a great home at Warner Brothers Discovery. I was really pleased they want us to stay and they made us great offers and we’re having great conversations now. With five hours of wrestling every week and streaming, there are all kinds of things to talk about. It’s really exciting for the future of AEW.” (h/t Fightful)
