AEW Championship Vacated At 13/7 Collision Taping [Spoiler]

AEW has stripped the Trios Champions of their titles.

With Jay White selling the injuries of his Owen Hart Cup semifinal match against Adam Page, the Bang Bang Gang were one member short in their title match at the recent Collision taping, which will air on Saturday, July 13th.

Attempting to use the Freebird rule to remain champions, Austin and Colten Gunn looked to use Juice Robinson as the replacement partner, which authority figure Christopher Daniels refused to accept. Instead, it was announced that the Trios Titles would be vacated and a new champion would be crowned when The Gunns and Robinson faced off against The Patriarchy’s Christian Cage, Killswitch and Nick Wayne.

The match took place the following week, when some underhanded tactics led to The Patriarchy being crowned the new AEW Trios Champions.

What Else Happened On AEW Collision?

The upcoming show was taped directly after the July 10th episode of AEW Dynamite went off the air. As reported by PWInsider, the following events took place at the Collision taping:

  • Konosuke Takeshita defeated Dynamite Kid Tommy Billington. After the match, Don Callis offered Billington a spot in The Don Callis Family. Billington refused and was attacked by Takeshita and Kyle Fletcher until FTR made the save.
  • Juice Robinson & The Gunns defeated enhancement talents. The Bang Bang Gang tried to use the Freebird rule to make Juice a champion for the match. Christopher Daniels stripped them of the titles instead. The Patriarchy came out and set up a match for the vacant belts at a later date.
  • Roderick Strong defeated Dalton Castle.
  • Nyla Rose defeated an enhancement talent.
  • Top Flight beat Shane Taylor Promotions.
  • Skye Blue defeated Harley Cameron.
  • Matt Taven and Mike Bennet defeated Orange Cassidy and Kyle O’Reilly. Trent Beretta attacked OC outside during the match.

The biggest story from Dynamite was that the Owen Hart Cup winners were crowned and the first matches for AEW All in 2024 have been made official.
