AEW Planning To Turn Recent Signing Into One Of The Companies Biggest Babyfaces

AEW President Tony Khan

Tony Khan reportedly has big plans for an emerging star in AEW, but it’s going to take some time.

AEW is chock-full of talent and with that comes a lot of questions as to how that talent will be handled in the short-term and the long-term. One name who has certainly caught the eye of Khan is Konosuke Takeshita, who AEW has positioned in big spots since he started working with the company. Takeshita was getting strong reactions from the live AEW crowd initially as a babyface, but sure garnered a lot of heel heat when he aligned himself with Don Callis following AEW Double or Nothing.

According to Dave Meltzer on the latest “Wrestling Observer Radio” major long-term plans are in place for Takeshita as Tony Khan believes him to be a future top babyface in the company. The mindset right now seems to be to have him work with Callis as a hot heel, but when the time is right down the road, you flip the coin on the young Japanese star.

Why One Of AEW’s Biggest Heels Could Be One Of It’s Biggest Babyfaces

The “Dynamite” following Double or Nothing gave AEW a great litmus test as to how fans feel about Takeshita joining Don Callis and judging by the reaction of that San Diego crowd, it was poorly received in a good way. That heat continued this past Wednesday when Takeshita handled Damon Ace in easy fashion. Following that, him and Callis made clear that they plan to cut “The Elite” out of AEW.
