A new report has suggested that AEW Battle of the Belts could be moving from it’s regular Saturday night spot.
As reported by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the next Battle of the Belts special will air directly after the October 7th episode of AEW Rampage. It is said that the goal is to make both Rampage and Battle of the Belts IV feel like a major two-hour show.
The current TNT schedule has Rampage starting at 10pm ET as usual with Battle of the Belts following directly afterwards.
The first special under the banner was aired live on Saturday January 8th. The show was headlined by the Women’s Title Match between Britt Baker and Rhio. The next two specials were both aired on a Saturday, but were taped the day before.
Another potential reason for the switch is that WWE are holding Extreme Rules on Saturday October 8th.
At time of writing there have been no matches announced for the upcoming special.
Battle of the Belts III only drew 437,000 viewers which was significantly down on the previous edition, and well over 250,000 viewers down one the premiere of the event.
In the show’s main event Claudio Castagnoli defeated Konosuke Takeshita to retain the ROH World Title while Wardlow and Thunder Rosa also successfully kept a tight grip on their championship gold.
