How did the third AEW Battle of the Belts special stack up in the television ratings?
On August 6th, AEW held it’s third Battle of the Belts special with the Ring of Honor World Championship, TNT Championship and AEW Women’s World Championship all on the line.
In the show’s main event Claudio Castagnoli defeated Konosuke Takeshita to retain his ROH World Title while Wardlow and Thunder Rosa also successfully kept a tight grip on their championship gold.
Wardlow defeated Jay Lethal, but was attacked after the match by Satnam Singh and Sonjay Dutt, and Thudner Rosa overcame Jamie Hayter as her rivalry with Hayter’s partner Britt Baker continues.
However, as reported by Wrestlenomics, the third edition of the show, was the worst performing special to date with regard to television ratings, pulling in 437,000 viewers, with a 0.12 rating in the 18-49-year-old demographic.
This is a decrease from Battle of the Belts II which drew 527,000 viewers and a 0.18 rating in the key demographic. By contrast, Battle of the Belts I on January 8th garnered 704,000 viewers, along with a 0.27 rating in the above demographic.
