A new report has shed light on a confrontation between WWE and AEW stars and says AEW contacted one of WWE’s top executives over the issue.
Following the 18th of May edition of Dynamite in Houston, Texas hostilities almost spilled over to the hotel as AEW’s Chris Jericho was involved in a confrontation with WWE’s MVP.
“After the 5/18 show in Houston, there was a confrontation in the hotel the wrestlers were staying at between Chris Jericho and MVP at about 1 a.m. after the Dynamite tapings. Something that I’m not clear of happened 18 months ago where they had a falling out. Jericho was talking to Matt Hardy and MVP showed up.”
“Most people didn’t know what was up and thought he was kidding around until it became clear he wasn’t kidding. Nothing bad happened even though it was a tense situation. Jericho did tell him that he doesn’t fight jobbers when he got in the elevator and MVP was screaming about it in the lobby.”
Now more information has been revealed on the situation regarding the situation with Fightful Select reporting that the issues between MVP and Chris Jericho were down to “social and political issues” that were aired on social media.
The report quotes Chris Jericho’s response to the whole affair as “Nothing else to say. I don’t fight jobbers. Nuff said.”
Interestingly a WWE source is said to have claimed that someone from within AEW called WWE’s Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis about the situation with Laurinaitis apparently not seeming to care once he learned that the situation resolved itself without incident. However, it was also mentioned that AEW sources had not heard about Laurinaitis being contacted.
