A new report has indicated that AEW has held another talent meeting – the latest of several in recent weeks – ahead of Grand Slam in New York City.
In recent weeks AEW has held several talent meetings before shows as reported unrest grew within the company. Things took a turn following the All Out fiasco that several stars including The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, and CM Punk all suspended by the company for their part in a backstage brawl.
Chris Jericho, Bryan Danielson, and Jon Moxley were said to have spoken at the meeting immediately following that with the three veterans very much taking on locker room leadership roles during one of the biggest crises in company history.
Now ahead of Grand Slam in Arthur Ashe Stadium, Fightful Select has reported that AEW has held another talent meeting. While details are scarce at this time, those in attendance of the meeting said it was more of a “pep talk” ahead of one of the biggest shows of the year.
The report adds that there is a feeling that the talent meetings held since All Out have been received well by the roster with things said to be more laid back than they were in the lead-up to the pay-per-view.
An unnamed source tellingly used the phrase “addition by subtraction” in relation to the backstage situation but would not clarify who they were referring to. CM Punk, Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, and company producer Ace Steel remain suspended by AEW and have not attended shows since All Out.
