AEW will present a special edition of Dynamite in April as the show will officially reach a major milestone.
During the March 23rd episode of Collision, a graphic flashed up for Dynamite Spring BreakThru, which will take place on April 16th. As pointed out by Tony Khan on social media, this will also mark the 289th episode of the flagship show to air on the network:
Don’t miss Wednesday Night #AEWDynamite 289, Wednesday, April 16 in Boston, AEW Spring BreakThru! We’ll celebrate AEW Wednesday Night Dynamite becoming the longest running prime time weekly pro wrestling program in Turner Sports history!
The number is significant as on April 16th the company will overtake WCW as having the most episodes of a wrestling show on TBS/TNA. WCW Nitro ran from September 4th 1995 to March 26th 2001, which saw the final Nitro also announce that WWE had acquired WCW. 288 episodes of Nitro aired during that period.
Dynamite premiered on the TNT network on October 2nd 2019 and was later moved to TBS at the start of 2022. With All Elite Wrestling securing a media rights extension with Warner Bros Discovery in late 2024, the company secured its future and in the process ensured that it would surpass Nitro.
