AEW Announces Another International Grand Slam

AEW Grand Slam will once again take place outside the United States.

As announced on April 16th, the promotion will partner with CMLL to present Grand Slam: Mexico which will take place at the Arena México in Mexico City on Wednesday, June 18. The show will be a special episode of Dynamite.

Speaking with Fox Sports Mexico about the event, former Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa stated that the show was long overdue:

“It’s about time, that’s what the fans were asking — they’d been wondering for years when AEW would come here, and there’s no better moment than 2025, the first AEW Grand Slam in Mexico. We already had one in Australia, and now it’s Mexico’s turn.”

“There’s so much Mexican representation in All Elite Wrestling that it was our turn, and what better place than the cathedral of lucha libre?”

“I hope that all of us Mexicans who have been grinding get the opportunity, and that we’re all enjoying ourselves and part of this major event to celebrate lucha libre,”

This will be the second time that the special will emanate outside the United States after previously being held at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Back in February, All Elite Wrestling presented Grand Slam in Australia, marking the first time that the promotion held an event in the country. The main event saw Toni Storm defeat Mariah May to win back the Women’s Championship.

AEW Confirms More International Shows

The announcement regarding the debut show in Mexico comes a day after AEW confirmed that Forbidden Door 2025 would be taking place at the O2 Arena in London. Additionally, a UK taping of Dynamite and Collision will also take place.
