How would Chris Jericho fare as a wrestling booker?
The veteran has been a part of the wrestling industry for nearly 35 years with experience all over the world. Consistently reinventing himself in wrestling and with previous work in the wider world of entertainment, many have credited Jericho with being an asset in the wrestling industry in front of the camera and behind the scenes. However, if the opportunity arose, could a promotion booked by Jericho be a success?
AEW announcer Jim Ross has known Jericho for many years and is very aware of what the current Ring of Honor World Champion has accomplished over the course of his career. Praising Jericho’s achievements and pointing out that The Learning Tree books his own segments, Ross stated on Grilling JR that Jericho would make a great promoter if the opportunity arose:
“He became one of the biggest stars in wrestling history, and he’s still going. Jericho’s still going. When you see him on AEW, you see good work. You see a smart program. He gets to book his own stuff, more often than not, and I’m sure glad we got him. I’ve said many times, arguably, over the last two or three years, he’s been kind of the MVP of AEW because he’s stayed in place.
He stayed there, and he built his brand, and now his brand is very strong. It’s a main event brand. When you see Jericho, you just don’t look away because you know something’s gonna happen, and it’s going to come out of his mind. He’d make a great booker, no doubt about it in my mind,”
Chris Jericho’s Influence Detailed By Former Star
Jericho was easily the biggest star signed to AEW at the start of 2019 and many credit the ROH Champion with helping to get the promotion off the ground. In a recent interview, one former AEW star stated that Tony Khan didn’t want them in the company but Chris Jericho did.
