A title match that took place at AEW All In went shorter than previously allocated due to timing issues.
All Elite Wembley returned to Wembley Stadium on August 25th to present its biggest show of the year. As is the case with events at Wembley Stadium, the venue has a strict 10 pm curfew to ensure fans leave at a sensible time. With 9 matches on the main card along with entrances, post-match celebrations and angles, the promotion had a lot to get through in its strict 4 hour run time. While entrances for the first match took place on the pre-show, time remained tight and one match suffered the dreaded time cut as a result.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez stated that the TNT Championship coffin match between Jack Perry and Darby Allin was the match that had several minutes cut to make sure that they could finish on time:
“Well, part of the problem with that match is they got several minutes cut off the match because, as noted, the show had to be over by 10 [pm]. And so they went out there, I’m actually flabbergasted it went 10 minutes because it felt like 5. They came out, and they were doing glass spots immediately. Darby had thumbtacks glued to his face. They must have had some plan that they didn’t do.”
It should also be noted that the timing for their match would have also featured the post-match angle that saw the return of Sting.
AEW All In Winners Changed
Along with timing issues affecting one of the matches, so did extenuating circumstances. Also on the show, it was revealed that one AEW All In match was supposed to have different winners in the original plans.
