Additional Details Regarding Drew McIntyre's New WWE Deal

New details have emerged about Drew McIntyre’sWWE contract.

Following weeks of uncertainty, The Rock announced on social media that Drew McIntyre had re-signed with the company, presenting the 3-time World Champion with a special gift on social media to accompany the announcement. Upon the news being made official, a follow-up report from Fightful Select added that McIntyre’s contract was a “multi-year, big money deal”, as has been the case with a lot of recent contract extensions. According to a new report, more details have emerged.

Discussing The Scottish Warrior’s contract on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez asked if the deal was a 3-year deal, to which Dave Meltzer confirmed that it was. When Alvarez stated that it was impressive that McIntyre was able to get a 3-year deal and not a 5-year deal, Meltzer said the following:

“That’s how I viewed it. I viewed three years as very smart on his part. Because the thing is, if there’s two companies around in three years, which more likely than not there will be. With Drew, and I don’t know the number, but I will say that one would think of all the full-time wrestlers they got on the roster, and Roman Reigns is not a full-time wrestler, Lesnar’s not either and who knows if Lesnar is gonna be back or not anyway.

But I mean by all rights right now number one should be Cody Rhodes. As far as number two, Randy Orton has got the longevity, and Randy Orton historically has been one of the highest-paid guys other than Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar, and Cena was around. But for the last many years, Randy Orton has been right there at the top.

Aside from that you could say like Seth Rollins, Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes, who should be number one. Drew probably should be, you could argue three or four. And three or four right now is, you’re talking $4 million a year. I don’t know that he’s getting it, I don’t know the number. But right now that’s the level that he should be at from from either side. But it’s a very good time to be a free agent and be hot.”

Continuing, Meltzer stated that the shorter deal is always better for the talents as the competition will drive up salaries:

“But as far as Drew goes, or anybody, any top guy in WWE or any top guy in AEW. What I would say is go for the shortest deal possible. Because if there’s two companies, the odds are that the salaries will continue to escalate as the competition gets more and more strong. The short deal is better because, again, you’re gonna have two major options most likely in three years. I mean, there’s a chance you won’t, but most likely you will.”

Drew McIntyre Addresses WrestleMania 40

Prior to re-signing with WWE, McIntyre won the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40. The celebrations would be short-lived as McIntyre quickly lost the title to Damian Priest as he cashed in his Money in the Bank contract minutes after the victory. With many fans asking the same question, Drew McIntyre issued a response.

Drew McIntyre has also set the record straight in regard to previous “internet rumours.”
