Some fans can be relentless in hunting down wrestlers for an autograph or picture.
Footage has been seen frequently online of fans going to extreme lengths to track down stars of WWE and AEW, which includes chasing talent through airports with multiple items to be signed for either personal use or to be sold on.
Adam Page Does Not Like To Be Approached In Hotel Lobbies
Former AEW World Champion “Hangman” Adam Page has been the victim of fan harassment while walking through the hotel lobby, and has a clever strategy of dealing with annoying autograph hunters.
Speaking during a Highspots Signing, Page stated that if an item has been requested to be signed while being bothered, the signature will look quite different:
“I’ll tell you a little secret — if you ever buy one that doesn’t have the Hangman underneath, it’s because someone harassed me in the hotel lobby and I give them the halfway, house show signature… Don’t come in my hotel lobby. That’s my front door, you know what I mean? Leave me alone.”
Page would defeat Kenny Omega at the 2021 AEW Full Gear pay-per-view to win the AEW World Championship for the first and only time in his career so far. The build up to the match would see the cowboy surprise The Elite while dressed up as the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from the Ghostbusters franchise.
Also during the signing session, Page would comment on the difficulties faced with removing the costume when returning to the backstage area:
“I wore this costume on my body and then I tried to rip it off, but I had on big white tennis shoes and couldn’t get it off my feet. So I waddled around the ring until I got to the back and cut it off with scissors. It was so embarrassing but fun.”
