In the main event of AEW All Out, Hangman Adam Page defeated Swerve Strickland in a gruesome “Lights Out” steel cage match.
To say that Adam Page and Swerve Strickland’s rivalry has been “fiery” would be an understatement. For over a year their feud has raged on, reigniting at AEW All In recently when Hangman attempted to interfere in Swerve’s AEW World Championship defence against Bryan Danielson, which Danielson ultimately won. Their hatred for one another reached new levels on the September 4 episode of AEW Dynamite when a video aired of Adam Page burning down Swerve’s recently-purchased childhood home.
It therefore came as no surprise to anyone when their “Lights Out” steel cage match – the main event of AEW All Out last night – involved all manner of bloody violence. Before the steel cage had even been lowered, the pair were trading blows, and both attempted to hold the other’s head outside of the ring to have it crushed by the lowering cage. Luckily they avoided this, but quickly made use of the various weapons Prince Nana had slipped into the ring.

A staple gun was used by both opponents, with Swerve stapling photos of his family onto Adam Page. Page would retaliate in the form of a jumping lariat with a barbed-wire-wrapped arm, as well as a powerbomb onto a cinder block. Swerve hit Page with a stomp from the top rope through a table, and a steel chair was utilised by each of them. On top of this, Page introduced a shard of debris from Swerve’s house into the weapons pile, and stuck a syringe through Swerve’s lip.
After a number of near falls, Hangman was able to eventually win via knockout after hitting Swerve with a chairshot to the head. This marks Page’s first PPV victory over Swerve, with Swerve emerging victorious in their clashes at both Full Gear 2023 and WrestleDream 2023.
What Else Happened At AEW All Out Before Adam Page’s Victory?
While Page and Strickland may have headlined the show, AEW All Out also saw five titles on the line. Taking place at the Now Arena in Chicago, the card included International Champion Will Ospreay vs Pac, TBS Champion Mercedes Mone vs Hikaru Shida, and AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson vs Jack Perry.
With the match dividing opinions, Booker T gave his thoughts on the controversial All Out match.
According to a recent report, the AEW star will be back sooner than expected.
