It has been announced that Hangman Adam Page will defend his AEW World Championship against CM Punk at Double or Nothing.
Since arriving in AEW back in August, CM Punk has only tasted defeat once. That defeat came at the hands of MJF in February, but he quickly avenged the loss in a brutal Dog Collar Match at Revolution a month later.
The result of this success has been that Punk has steadily risen up the rankings to where he now sits as the number one contender to AEW World Championship Hangman Adam Page. Something Punk has proven to be keenly aware of as he has made no secret of his desire to become World Champion.
It has now been revealed that Punk will get his chance at AEW Double or Nothing. After the announcement, Punk said that when he returned to wrestling he wondered whether he could still compete at the highest level, and he has since proved that he can. He added that everything up to now had only been a warm up, and that he wouldn’t be where he is if it wasn’t for the fans.

Hangman Adam Page was absent from the April 27th edition of AEW Dynamite after testing positive for COVID-19. Page made the announcement on social media, commenting that he was suffering from “covid snot.”
The week previously, Punk and Page went nose-to-nose at the top of the ramp after the number one contender had defeated Dustin Rhodes.
Adam Page won the AEW World Championship in November 2021 at Full Gear by defeating long-reigning champion Kenny Omega. Since that victory Page has defended his title in a couple of universally acclaimed matches against Bryan Danielson and more recently Adam Cole.
Page’s most recent defence came against Cole on the April 15th episode of Rampage where he overcame the former NXT star in a bloody Texas Deathmatch.
