Former AEW World Champion Adam Page has laid down a stunning challenge to one of the biggest stars in New Japan Pro Wrestling.
On the June 8th episode of Dynamite, Hangman Adam Page was back in action for the first time since losing his AEW World Championship to CM Punk at Double or Nothing.
With a lot of anger and frustration clearly built up, Page took on David Finlay in a hard-hitting affair that he eventually won with a Buckshot Larriat. However, the big news came after the final bell.
Page grabbed a microphone and said there were a lot of things he wanted to say about the AEW World Title. He added that although this wasn’t the place, it seemed he wasn’t getting a shot at the title any time soon after being left out of the Casino Battle Royale which began proceedings to crown an Interim Champion with CM Punk out injured.
With that in mind, Page said there was more than one World Champion in professional wrestling, and more than one World Championship he was interested in. At that, Page laid down a challenge for IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada at Forbidden Door.
However, Adam Cole who had been sitting in on commentary, was less than impressed with Page’s demands. The new Owen Hart Foundation Tournament winner said that he was the new franchise player in AEW, and now that Page was no longer champion, he was in no position to be issuing challenges.
