Adam Page To Defend AEW World Championship In A Texas Death Match

Lance Archer & Adam Page

It has been announced that Hangman Adam Page will defend his AEW World Championship against Lance Archer in a Texas Death Match!

On the January 12th episode of Dynamite, Hangman Adam Page came to the ring to address the crowd. After toasting his recent blood-soaked victory over Bryan Danielson, Page said that it was a new year, and with the rankings reset it was time for a new challenge.

At this, Page was interrupted by Dan Lambert who named-checked famous cowboys of wrestling past. While Lambert praised the champion for not taking the “Cody Rhodes” way to the top through politics, he said that Page was disrespecting the legacies of the legends he just named.

After Page threatened to deposit one of his cowboy boots inside Lambert, the outspoken manager went to make his exit before Lance Archer made his big return.

While Lambert initially feared for his life given his history with Archer, the former IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion instead turned and attacked Page. He quickly dropped him to the canvas, leaving him laying in the middle of the ring with the Blackout through a chair.

However, Hangman came for revenge the following week, trading punches with Archer after the Murderhawk Monster had decided to deliver a post-match beatdown on Frankie Kazarian.

This led to the announcement on the most recent episode of Dynamite that the two men will meet in a Texas Death Match on February 9th. Not that Page was too over enthusiastic at the news, as can be seen below.

Later in the show it was confirmed that long-time rivals MJF and CM Punk will finally meet in the ring on the February 2nd edition of Dynamite in Chicago. Meanwhile, Sammy Guevara defeated Cody Rhodes in a jaw-dropping ladder match to be crowned the Undisputed TNT Champion.
