Adam Copeland Teases Matches Outside AEW In Multiple Iconic Venues

Adam Copeland has hinted that he may compete in some matches outside of AEW before his in-ring career comes to an end.

Following his shock AEW arrival back in 2023, Copeland made it clear that he was looking to have as many first-time-ever matches as possible before ending his career on his own terms. With All Elite Wrestling also having a working relationship with international promotions CMLL and NJPW, The Rated R Superstar is also looking to expand his options even further.

Speaking with Uproxx, Copeland spoke about some of the goals he still wanted to accomplish before his career comes to an end, including wrestling at the spiritual homes of CMLL and New Japan:

“I’d love to wrestle in Arena México. Never worked there for CMLL or anything like that, so I think that would be great. I’ve been as a fan, at the time I was world champ — so I went to this show with a lucha mask on and I sat in the third row and watched the entire show,” Copeland said with a laugh.

“Tokyo Dome. Never performed there, love to do that. And then for me, the really big one is Maple Leaf Gardens. I don’t even know what it’s called now, but I want to do Maple Leaf Gardens.”

Other AEW stars who have competed at Arena Mexico include MJF, Chris Jericho and Bryan Danielson.

The Maple Leaf Gardens, now known as the Mattamy Athletic Center, was previously the home venue for the Toronto Maple Leafs and is now used for the Toronto Metropolitan University sports teams.

Adam Copeland Addresses Long-Term Plans

On January 1st, Copeland will make his return to the ring at the Fight For The Fallen special episode of AEW Dynamite. Teaming with Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler, Rated FTR will take on World Champion Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta of The Death Riders. Also in the interview, Adam Copeland gave more insight into what the future holds for him in AEW.
