Adam Copeland Reflects On Dream Coming True After 40 Year Wait

Adam Copeland is extremely proud of what he accomplished on AEW Dynamite.

March 20th saw the culmination of Copeland’s rivalry with Christian Cage as the two veterans battled it out in their hometown of Toronto in an “I Quit” match with Cage’s TNT Championship on the line. Competing on a TV-14 show and without the WWE handcuffs, the duo were able to amp up the brutality and put on an instant classic that saw the Rated R Superstar finally overcome the odds and defeat the leader of The Patriarchy.

Looking back on the match on his Instagram page, Copeland stated that this was the match he always wanted ever since he was cleared to return at the start of 2020, adding that he had been waiting for this moment for 4 decades:

About Dynamite on Wednesday. When I first came back to wrestling back at the 2020 Rumble this was the match I always wanted to get to. Face to face with @christian4peeps in our hometown 40 years after we first met. @aew made that possible. And Toronto you came out in force to have fun. I hope you did. Sure sounded like it and I’ll never forget it. Ever. As a kid this night was the kind of scenario I dreamed about in art class. If you dream hard enough, even if it takes 40 years, it can happen. So without further ado….AND NEW TNT Champion!

One week later, Adam Copeland has once again looked back on a recent AEW match and explained why the timing was perfect.

Adam Copeland Discusses New Signings

One week prior to the “I Quit” match, former WWE star Mercedes Mone made her debut for the rival promotion after weeks of speculation that the CEO would be signing with the company. Much like Copeland’s signing back in October 2023, Mone is already an established name among wrestling fans in America and one with mainstream appeal. Discussing the importance of the signing, Adam Copeland explained why Mercedes Mone joining AEW is a big deal.
