Adam Copeland has given his thoughts on AEW’s recent acquisitions.
Much like in 2021, All Elite Wrestling has seen a major boost in its roster as Will Ospreay, Kazuchika Okada and Mercedes Mone are now all a part of the promotion. Much like Copeland, Mone is All Elite after a lengthy run in WWE where she made her name as one of the top stars of the division. Now in AEW, there is a long list of first-time-ever opponents for The CEO to face, a feeling that The Rated R Superstar is very familiar with.
Speaking with Sports Illustrated ahead of his “I Quit” match with Christian Cage on Dynamite in Toronto, Copeland commented on Mone joining the promotion and compared it to his own debut back in October 2023:
”For her, AEW is a blank canvas with a brand new palette of paint,” said Copeland. “For me, it was the same. I saw Swerve, The Young Bucks, Jon Moxley, Hangman Page, Kenny Omega, Claudio, FTR, all these names I’ve never crossed paths with. It’s the same with Mercedes–think of how much fun she’s going to have here. Think of all the new opponents.
Copeland continued, noting how there is a buzz about the promotion with the addition of 3 top stars among a stacked roster:
“I think it’s super exciting. I love that AEW is here to bring a different product to the industry. Now there’s Okada, Ospreay, Mercedes, plus all of us already here, and that makes one hell of a roster.”
Following his most recent match, Adam Copeland has looked back on his dream coming true after a 40-year wait.
