Adam Copeland has provided a very unfortunate update following his match at AEW Double or Nothing.
Defending the TNT Championship against Malakai Black inside a barbed wire steel cage match, Adam Copeland defeated Black thanks to an assist from Attitude Era star Gangrel, who made a cameo appearance to fend off interference from Buddy Matthews and Brody King.
The match will be best remembered for Copeland’s insane dive from the top of the cage, which saw the TNT Champion come crashing onto the mat feet first.

Limping after the match, many were concerned for Copeland’s welfare and expected that he did not escape the match unscathed. Unfortunately, those assumptions proved to be true.
Adam Copeland Confirms Fractured Tibia
Providing an update in a video on social media, Copeland addressed the cage dive and confirmed that he would require surgery for a fractured tibia, adding that this was a sign that he needed to make better choices:
“Hey everybody. Double or Nothing, flew back yesterday. Malakai Black, the dude is an animal. All of The House of Black are really, really, really damn good. And you are about to find out the house always does win because I gained 2 new friends [picks up crutches]. I don’t really like them, they are like those buddies that just annoy you [laughs], Brody and Buddy or something.
Anyway, yeah, I’ve been feeling really good lately. Been having so much fun in the ring [but] I got cocky, which is what it really boils down to and I am probably a narcissist and an egomaniac and I’ll unpack that one day. But yeah, my brain forgets what my body remembers a little late. I’m 50 and I need to make better choices, so my body pulled the emergency brake the other night. I ended up fracturing my tibia, which is gonna require surgery, don’t know the timeframe on that yet.
I’ll find out the timeframe next week, sorry, don’t know what I’m gonna say. I’m still half asleep. But I will see you soon-ish, everybody be good and try and be happy.”
Tony Khan previously commented on Adam Copeland’s injury at the Double or Nothing press conference.
Following the injury announcement, the future of the TNT Championship was addressed on AEW Dynamite.
Inside The Ropes would like to wish Adam Copeland a full and speedy recovery.
