Adam Copeland Cleared For Action But AEW Return Will Be Delayed

Adam Copeland could be returning to AEW TV in a couple of months.

Copeland has been absent from AEW since Double or Nothing, which saw the former TNT Champion suffer a fractured tibia following a dive off the top of the cage in his match against Malakai Black. While Adam Copeland finished the match and retained the championship, he later confirmed the injury, and the title was vacated shortly afterwards.

In a more positive update by Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Copeland is now cleared for physicality. Despite this, the Hall of Famer’s return will not be immediate as he is currently filming season 2 of the Percy Jackson TV series. With filming scheduled to wrap in January, Copeland should be returning shortly afterwards, likely to build to the Revolution pay-per-view in March.

Tony Khan Comments On Adam Copeland Return

With Copeland out of action for more than 6 months and a firm fan favourite, many are hoping to see the former World Champion back in the ring sooner than later. Speaking at the Full Gear press conference, Tony Khan was asked about when Copeland could be making his return:

“We’ve been missing him very, very much. He was doing so great this year for us as the TNT Champion. We really missed the ‘Rated-R Superstar’ so much, and I can’t wait to hopefully get him back at some point in the near future.

It was really a devastating thing, but we’re very blessed to have such a great roster in AEW because everybody really stepped up. When you lose somebody so valuable to the team like Adam Copeland, it’s always going to hurt.

As soon as we can get him back, it’s going to make a huge positive difference to have Adam back on this team. We really missed the ‘Rated-R Superstar,’ and it was one of those really hard things that happened at the MGM Grand at Double or Nothing when we temporarily lost Adam from the roster. Whenever he gets back, we’re going to be so excited.”
