Adam Copeland Admits He Doesn’t Watch Wrestling Anymore

Adam Copeland Explains The Main Benefit To Mercedes Mone Joining AEW

Despite being an in-ring competitor for AEW, Adam Copeland has revealed he doesn’t actively watch professional wrestling, including major developments like John Cena’s recent heel turn.

Speaking on First Up with Korolnek & Colaiacovo, Adam Copeland offered an honest explanation:

“So I generally, this is gonna sound bad, but I don’t watch wrestling,” he admitted. “Just because immediately burned out in terms of, like, I think it’s one of those deals. When you’re doing it, doing it and watching it, it can be all consuming.”

Since returning to wrestling in recent years after nearly a decade-long retirement, Copeland has been clear about setting boundaries between his work and personal life.

“And I told myself, and coming back this time, I wasn’t going to let it do that to me,” he said. “So, you know, this time, I have a family. I have two kids and my downtime’s spent with them or watching hockey, as opposed to, you know, kind of critiquing and pulling apart the wrestling shows.”

While he doesn’t follow full broadcasts or keep up with storylines, Copeland does catch highlights through social media.

“I get my clips from Instagram, basically,” he noted.

Even though he hasn’t been watching, Copeland acknowledged the significance of major events like Cena’s character shift.

“It’s always a good shot in the arm for the business, for sure.”

He said, likening Cena’s heel turn to Hulk Hogan’s historic heel turn in 1996.

Which WWE Match Did Adam Copeland Feel Was A “No-Win” Situation?

Adam Copleand recalled his 2020 WWE feud with Randy Orton and specifically how their match at Backlash, marketed as ‘The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever’, was a “no-win situation.” Copeland said that because there is no such thing as a ‘greatest wrestling match ever’, he and Orton were already facing a really tough challenge in delivering on that promise for their match.
