Adam Cole’s In-Ring Return Confirmed, Opponent Revealed

Adam Cole

Adam Cole appeared on the March 22nd edition of Dynamite to discuss his future. He began his segment by teasing that it was “story time” and mentioned how he was feeling when he was sidelined. But instead of dwelling on his struggles from the past, he chose to focus on the present and announced that he was “feeling great”.

Cole was about to reveal who his opponent would be in his big return match scheduled for next week’s Dynamite when he was interrupted by someone else: Daniel Garcia of the Jericho Appreciation Society.

Garcia didn’t come to attack an unprepared Cole; he came to chat. Garcia bragged about his accomplishments in AEW, his win record, and the various people he has defeated. He believed that he was the future of AEW, yet he never got the reaction or the treatment that Cole got.

This all led to Garcia asking Cole, “What makes you special?” to which Cole replied “when the bell rings, that’s what makes me special”. And after a bit more back and forth, Adam Cole confirmed that he will face Daniel Garcia on next week’s Dynamite.

As of this writing, it has been exactly nine months since Cole wrestled a match anywhere in the world. His last match was a four-way at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door in June 2022. In that match, Cole suffered a severe concussion that sidelined him for months.

Conversely, Garcia has been wrestling regularly for AEW and other promotions as well, including Ring of Honor and Pro Wrestling Guerilla. His most recent match was a win over Brody King on the St. Patrick’s Day Slam edition of AEW Rampage.
