Though they’re making their returns to television on the upcoming AEW Dynamite, Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly aren’t expected to be in action just yet.
AEW has seen more than its fair share of injuries plague its roster as of late, and two of the men currently out with injury are Undisputed Elite members Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly. Cole reportedly suffered a concussion in a bout with Samoa Joe at Double or Nothing, and at Forbidden Door, became the victim of another concussion and a torn labrum that will thankfully not require surgery. The nature of O’Reilly’s injuries are unknown.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez reported that despite both Cole and O’Reilly being advertised to return to television on the upcoming AEW Dynamite, neither man has been cleared to compete just yet.
“We’ve also got Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly, both still out of action. Even though they announced they were going to return on the show Wednesday, they’re returning in a television role and neither of them have been cleared.
“They’re really making sure Adam Cole is 100% before he comes back because he was injured in the Joe match and then he came back and was immediately injured again. He already had a torn labrum and they don’t want him coming back and immediately getting injured again so he’s gonna out be out, still, for a while. I was told he is getting better and Kyle O’Reilly is also going to be out for a little while.”
The most recent episode of AEW Dynamite featured another return from injury when Bryan Danielson took on Daniel Garcia in the main event of the show. Danielson was originally scheduled to compete against Zack Sabre, Jr. at Forbidden Door, but was replaced by the debuting Claudio Castagnoli when he wasn’t cleared to compete.
