Adam Cole and his partner Britt Baker are set to team together in AEW for the first time ever in a huge mixed-tag team match.
The January 12 edition of AEW Dynamite began with Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish making their way to the ring. Cole told the crowd that he was still undefeated since arriving in AEW, before declaring that a “New Era” had arrived.
While the trio crowed about their greatness, The Young Bucks intervened, telling the former Undisputed ERA members that AEW was “their company.” Before pointing to their record as the longest reigning tag team champions in AEW history. Despite Cole trying to calm the situation, the tension was palpable as reDRagon said they weren’t about to let the Bucks stand in their way.
In his attempts to bring peace to the combustible confrontation, Cole ran down the Best Friends which quickly proved to be a mistake. The group led by Orange Cassidy made their way to the ring, microphone in hand. Not that Cassidy decided to use it, as he launched an attack on Cole, with everyone else piling in.
In the midst of the chaos after Cole had delivered a thunderous low-blow to Cassidy, Kris Statlander ran into the ring, getting in the face of the former NXT Champion. While Statlander refused to take a backward step she was attacked by AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker.
AEW’s resident dentist laid out Statlander, standing tall with a kiss to Cole to close the segment.
Later in the show, the SuperKliq and reDRagon were backstage, where Cole said that Statlander wasn’t safe. At this Britt Baker stepped forward laying down the challenge to Statlander and Cassidy for a mixed-tag team match the following week.
