According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the Abadon vs. Tay Conti bout in which the former received a serious injury will not air on this week’s edition on Dynamite.
Earlier this week, Inside the Ropes reported that Abadon was hospitalised at the AEW Dynamite taping last Thursday when she took a stiff elbow to the throat.
Following a worrying period where she couldn’t breathe, the bout and taping were brought to a halt and the star was taken to a hospital in Jacksonville for immediate evaluation. Thankfully, Abadon is expected to make a full recovery.
Dave Meltzer has said that not only has the match been removed from Wednesday’s edition of AEW’s weekly show but it will be replaced by a bout taped especially to fill the gap.
It remains to be seen whether AEW permit their announcers to mention the injury or incident on air.
Abadon made her official AEW in-ring debut on the March 10, 2020, AEW Dark against current AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida. Since then, she’s been on a winning streak racking up wins over Anna Jay, Skyler Moore, KiLynn King, Red Velvet and Dani Jordan.
As for Tay Conti, the Brazil native made her AEW debut on the September 9 AEW Dynamite in a loss to Nyla Rose. Her first victory came on the September 29 AEW Dark against Red Velvet.
