NXT UK Heritage Cup winner, A-Kid, has promised that his victory will usher in a new era on the black and red brand.

Taking to social media following his historic victory, the twenty four year old Spaniard tweeted a warning to NXT UK originals like Trent Seven and Eddie Dennis. In the tweet, he wrote in Spanish:

“We are the ones who were so much being nothing. This is the beginning of a new era. Tremendously grateful #andnew #AKidWWE.”

Following the momentous victory on November 26, both Triple H and NXT General Manager William Regal came out to congratulate the future of the brand. Unable to attend the television tapings because of travel restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, ‘The Game’ took to social media to write:

“There can only be one ‘first.’ Congratulations to @AKidWrestler on winning the #NXTUK #HeritageCup…incredible match and the beginning of big things for this young man. Can’t wait to see you represent your country and this brand in the future. #WeAreNXTUK.”

William Regal’s congratulation was a little more stiff-upper lip British:

“Congratulations to @AKidWrestler. Continuing the traditions of European Wrestling. Now the work starts !!!!!”

The NXT UK Heritage Cup will now be defended as a secondary championship on the British brand though there is no word whether the cup design will remain, or be switched to a physical championship belt in the weeks and months to come.

A-Kid defeated Trent Seven in a tremendously hard hitting tournament Final to lift the honour in Sudden Death Overtime. With Seven’s arm already wounded, A-Kid applied an inverted octopus surfboard stretch which hooked both arms for the dramatic submission victory.
