WWE Superstars John Cena and Randy Orton are among the last of a dying breed in the pro wrestling industry. Cena, Orton, and Brock Lesnar are from the OVW Class of 2002. All three are still active performers today, but not for much longer.
With that in mind, one of WWE’s promising young stalwarts has unveiled his intentions. He wants to retire The Greatest Of All Time, whose final match is set for Saturday Night’s Main Event XLII on December 13, 2025. He added The Legend Killer’s name to the list as well, but the 14-time World Champion has no plans to retire soon.
These were the thoughts of the reigning NXT Champion, Oba Femi.
Oba Femi Wants To Retire WWE Legends John Cena And Randy Orton
In an interview with Going Ringside recently, 6-foot-6-inch WWE star Oba Femi discussed pulling off something that would last his entire career, and that was to retire John Cena and Randy Orton.
Oba Femi only turned 27 in April 2025, but he has proved his mettle in NXT already. The Nigerian wrestler has a certain aura around him that screams superstar. Femi seems to think he is a worthy contender to retire both these veterans. He also felt they had been on the top of the mountain for a long time and “enough is enough.”
If I could catch John Cena, I would put him out,” claimed Oba Femi. “I’ll show him–he’s on his way out, so watch your step, you know? […] I would definitely fight Randy [Orton]. Just feel sorry for Randy, his back–I’ll show him the door too. It’s about time. I grew up watching those guys. They’ve been on top for a really long time and I think enough is enough,” he added.
What Oba Femi Said About Brock Lesnar Comparisons
Oba Femi has been compared to Brock Lesnar by wrestling fans. However, Femi feels all of that is only based on the superficial aspects like speed and athleticism. Speaking on Reality of Wrestling, the NXT Champion pointed out that as a character, Oba Femi was a “beast of its own.”
He also dismissed the fans who claim that he and Lesnar are similar, claiming they have not actually seen his work in NXT:
I think Oba Femi is a very unique experience. The people who draw the most correlation between Lesnar and Femi are the people who have not seen a lot of Femi.
So they look at the superficial stuff — the build, the speed; the exterior. But like I said, when you know the character of The Ruler, The Destroyer, The Bringer of War, you will understand that that is a unique experience that the WWE Universe has not seen before. Oba Femi is one of one, and I just wanted to make that clear.”
Needless to say, Oba Femi seems destined for big things on WWE’s main roster. His current reign as NXT Champion has already reached 235 days, similar to his previous reign with the NXT North American Championship, which he held for 272 days.
Will WWE book Oba Femi against John Cena at Saturday Night’s Main Event XLII in December? That would be an earth-shattering debut on the main roster, should it happen.
