The sudden rise of this 40-year-old star scared WWE for a specific reason.
Since his scathing promo on the BattleGround Podcast with Sam Roberts after WrestleMania 41, Karrion Kross, 40, has been massively popular with fans, as they wanted to see him get pushed to the moon. His merchandise became the top-three best sellers on WWE Shop, and chants of “We Want Kross” echoed through the arenas with every passing RAW and PLE.
Despite huge fan support and his desire to stay with WWE, Kross’s contract ended on August 10, and no new offers were presented to him and his wife, Scarlett Bordeaux, as he explained it all on his YouTube Channel.
As he continued to tell his story about his WWE departure, The Herald of Doomsday revealed that the creative team directed him to do his job to make sure the crowd’s reaction stayed within the story being told. It suggests that WWE was scared of his rise, as they wanted him to remain a heel and wanted fans to boo him instead of cheering for him.
He assured the team that he would do his part to ease their worries about the fans booing the match results.
“At Night of Champions, I kept having this recurring conversations with the team. They said ‘the key tonight is to make sure the crowd’s reaction stays right for the story.’ And I told them ‘Don’t worry, I’ll do my job as the bad guy’ and they were so worried, the crowd was gonna boo when I lost,” Kross laid out. During the June 28th premium live event in Saudi Arabia, Kross lost to Sami Zayn in a singles match. Their feud continued to SummerSlam Night 1 (August 2, 2025) as The Underdog from the Underground vanquished The Herald of Doomsday once again to end their feud.
The SummerSlam match was Kross’s last WWE match following his contract expiration on August 10.
WWE Executives’ reaction to Karrion Kross’ sudden fan support
In the same video, Karrion Kross recalled the warnings he received from certain people backstage by telling him not to acknowledge the fans chanting his name at events, which he felt was wrong.

However, The Herald of Doomsday said the “We Want Kross” chants only became louder as time went by, leading to the higher-ups taking time to accept the situation, and with some of them being skeptical of the organic fan support, stating that it wouldn’t last long.
