A 32-year-old AEW star made his sudden return after an injury and challenged Jon Moxley.
The wrestling world was shocked this week when Will Ospreay made his surprise return to AEW Dynamite after being away for weeks with a serious neck injury. The 32-year-old English wrestler had been dealing with two herniated discs in his neck that required time away from the ring.
Ospreay’s return came at the perfect time when Jon Moxley and his Death Riders were attacking Darby Allin after a match. The former AEW International Champion made his way to the ring to save Allin, driving off Moxley’s group and taking control of the microphone to address the crowd.
The Aerial Assassin wasted no time in making his intentions clear. He called out Moxley directly, along with his Death Riders teammates, including Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, and Marina Shafir, who were at ringside. In typical Ospreay fashion, he issued a challenge that sent shockwaves through the wrestling community and got fans talking on social media.
This happened on the August 13 episode of Dynamite, where a former World Champion made his return after being out of action for a month.
Ospreay Throws Down The Challenge For AEW Forbidden Door London Showdown
Ospreay grabbed the microphone and delivered a challenge that no one saw coming. Looking directly at Moxley and his crew, the English star said the words that have now become the talk of the wrestling world.
“You get your friends, I’ll get my friends, meet me in London, lights out steel cage bruv,” Ospreay declared to the shocked crowd. (0:01 – 0:15)

The challenge was for AEW’s upcoming Forbidden Door pay-per-view event, set to take place on August 24, 2025, at The O2 Arena in London, England.
This announcement was huge for several reasons. First, it marked Ospreay’s first appearance since suffering the neck injury that had kept him away from AEW programming. Second, the match would take place in his home country of England, making it even more special for the Brit. The “lights out” stipulation means the match will not be officially sanctioned by the company, allowing for more extreme rules and violence.
This will be AEW’s annual crossover event with New Japan Pro-Wrestling and other promotions, taking place in London for the first time. The challenge has already been confirmed as official for the Forbidden Door event.
