Some of WWE’s top stars are reportedly among those being kept off live events to ensure they are present at the Day 1 event on January 1st.
Several WWE Superstars including Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch were recently pulled from Boxing Day live events due to a COVID-19 outbreak in the company. Rollins has since confirmed that he has tested positive for the virus which has thrown his availability for the Day 1 pay-per-view in the air.
With Day 1 only days away, Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio has reported that Paul Heyman, Brock Lesnar, and WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns have been kept away from shows due to the blockbuster title match set to take place at Day 1.
Meltzer noted that the match will have severe ramifications for WrestleMania 38 with the inclusion of Heyman sure to raise eyebrows at his possible involvement in any storyline given that he was publicly fired by Reigns as Special Counsel recently on SmackDown:
“Obviously, he’s gonna have something to do with the storyline on Saturday because I was essentially told that it was very very important for WrestleMania that Roman Reigns does not miss this show, that Lesnar does not miss this show, and that Heyman does not miss this show. His name was mentioned to me in that context so obviously, there’s something big going on there.”
Reports have previously stated that the planned WrestleMania 38 main event will once again see Lesnar take on Reigns in what would be the two star’s third time closing The Show Of Shows together after previously doing so in 2015 and 2018.
