WWE SummerSlam has fans shocked right alongside Rhea Ripley as Night Two of The Biggest Party of The Summer kicked off with controversy. The Aussie Superstar was rumored to be in line for a championship surprise, but a certain someone had other plans in mind.
Night Two of the 38th annual WWE SummerSlam opened up with Naomi defending the Women’s World Championship against The Eradicator and IYO SKY. This was a rematch from WWE Evolution II last month, where Naomi cashed in Money In the Bank to dethrone SKY of the title during her singles title defense against Ripley.
Naomi Retains In WWE SummerSlam Opener
The Genius of The Sky went for a big moonsault to finish Ripley off in the SummerSlam Sunday opener, but received a forearm instead. SKY kept fighting until they ended up top, where Ripley connected with a headbutt. However, the champion then rushed in and rolled Ripley up to prevent a super Riptide on SKY.
Naomi held the pin on Ripley to retain from out of nowhere. The match ended at just over 16 minutes.

The Glow entered MetLife Stadium with a touching moment. The viral entrance saw Naomi’s father perform on-stage. Shawn McCray, as Michael Cole acknowledged on commentary, is a world-renowned guitarist that lead The Derek Mack Band.
