Last night’s main event saw John Cena take on CM Punk. It was the renewal of an epic rivalry at Night of Champions, but this time, the shoe was on the other foot for both men. After all, heading in, Cena was playing the role of heel, while Punk was the babyface.
However, by the end of the night, things didn’t feel the same. Yes, on paper, Punk was still the good guy and Cena the bad guy, but certain actions on the latter’s part raised a few eyebrows. Why? Well, it almost felt like the fans were getting back babyface Cena.
So, with that in mind, here are three hints that suggest the Last Real Champion could be turning babyface soon.
#3. Working together with CM Punk
The first reason why it is a possibility has to do with the brief moment when CM Punk and Seth Rollins worked together. During the match, when Rollins and his crew came out, there was a point when Bronson Reed was about to hit Cena with a Tsunami.

Fortunately, Punk was there to save the day, as he pushed Reed off the top rope, allowing the Last Real Champion to take advantage and hit Rollins’ lackey with an Attitude Adjustment. It may not be much, and it may have been in the heat of the moment, but his willingness to work with one of his greatest rivals should be noted.
#2. Attacking a fellow heel in Seth Rollins
As mentioned earlier, John Cena and Punk took the fight to Seth Rollins’ teammates. However, before all that, The Visionary himself was taken out. As he sent out Reed and Breakker to take out Punk, he called for a referee.
Clearly, he planned on pinning the man he hates with a passion to win the title, but Cena prevented that from happening. The Leader of the Cenation tackled referee Charles Robinson before going into the ring to confront an irate Rollins.

The two had a heated exchange of words before the Undisputed WWE Champion had enough and hit Rollins with an AA. This is interesting because if WWE chooses to explore a feud between the two further down the line, one of them would have to play the babyface, and it surely won’t be Rollins.
#1. John Cena chose not to hit Punk with the title
The main reason why a babyface turn could be in John Cena’s future had to do with one of the biggest moments in the match. A key element of Cena’s matches lately has been his decision to hit all of his opponents with the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Last night at Night of Champions, it looked like he would do so again. However, in a shocking turn of events, he chose not to after hearing the WWE Universe chant “No.” This could be a sign that Cena is slowly returning to his role of being a man of the people.

Of course, a few minutes later, he tried to hit Punk with a low blow, but at the end of the day, there are some hints that the old Cena will make a return before all is said and done.
