2023 Royal Rumble Date And Location Revealed

WWE Royal Rumble

WWE have announced that the 2023 Royal Rumble will be returning to a familiar home.

Over the past three decades the Royal Rumble has become one of WWE’s most popular events. From surprise appearances, to iconic wins and waves of nostalgia, not much captures the wrestling public’s imagination like the Royal Rumble.

After a monster event in St Louis, Missouri in 2022, it has now been confirmed that the spectacular will be heading to San Antonio, Texas on January 28th 2023. Furthermore, the show will take place at the Alamodome, which has a long and rich history associated with the event.

The event was first held at the Alamodome back in 1997 and was headlined by the huge WWF Championship match between Shawn Michaels and Sycho Sid. Michaels scored the win in front of his home crowd claimed the World Championship for a second time.

Shortly after the event Michaels sparked controversy by vacating the title owing to a highly-controversial knee injury, while he infamously “lost his smile.”

The 1997 Royal Rumble Match was won by Stone Cold Steve Austin. It was the first of three wins in the match for the Texas Rattlesnake.

WWE returned to the Alamodome for the event in 2017. On this occasion the Royal Rumble Match was won by Randy Orton.
