WWE will allegedly break a longstanding streak towards the end of this year.
WWE will feature at least one premium live event or special shows per month to give fans something to look forward to. However, in December, the company holds a more special type of event, which is the post-Christmas live events that the Stamford-based promotion would take place in Madison Square Garden. This tradition has been happening since 2009, but that might come to an end this year.
In a report from WrestleVotes Radio, it was shared that WWE will not host the annual post-Christmas event on December 26 at Madison Square Garden this year, as the company already has Baltimore, Maryland. Despite all this, John Cena will still be able to appear at The Garden for the final time in his retirement tour as the Stamford-based promotion will be at The MSG on November 17 for Monday Night RAW.
“We are told, WWE will not be hosting its annual post-Christmas live event at Madison Square Garden this year, the tradition that dates back to 2009 has seen WWE run an untelevised house show at Madison Square Garden every December 26,” the report stated. “Instead, this year, WWE has a live event booked in Baltimore, Maryland.”
The gift that keeps on giving… @WWE’s Holiday Tour takes over both @TheGarden and @CFGBankArena tonight with two HUGE live events.@CMPunk returns to #WWEMSG, @RandyOrton returns to #WWEBaltimore, and much more.
Happy Holidays, @WWEUniverse. Let’s keep the celebration going. pic.twitter.com/q7yvusZYmS

WWE Has Been Embracing A Couple Of Changes In Premium Live Events Lately
World Wrestling Entertainment has been changing a lot of its ways and practices in recent years. Some, such as the Netflix documentary, Unreal, where fans saw a glimpse of how everything comes together behind the scenes. As it turns out, WWE possibly missing Madison Square Garden for December 26 might not be the only one.
As announced the past few months ago, next year’s Royal Rumble will mark the first time the event of its kind will happen outside of the United States of America, as it will take place in Saudi Arabia. Shockingly, that won’t be the only premium live event that will change its traditional ways. As per reports, WrestleMania 43 might also take place in Saudi Arabia, making it the first time the event of its kind has left the USA.
