A 15-time Champion said he would consider stepping back in the ring for a WWE match against Gunther.
The Ring General has been making waves ever since his time in NXT for his dominating presence and hard-hitting matches.
While his work has received praise from fans and peers alike, WWE legend The Undertaker recently revealed that he would consider coming out of retirement if he had a chance to face the former NXT UK Champion.
The Undertaker Speaks About Potential WWE Match With Gunther
Recently, Gunther was a guest on the Six Feet Under With Undertaker podcast. Co-host Michelle McCool asked The Phenom what a match between him and the Ring General would look like.
Before diving into a discussion about the match, The Undertaker revealed that the former WWE Heavyweight Champion is the one star he would come out of retirement for, to which the Austrian wrestler responded that he was honored. The conversation was as follows:
“[Undertaker]: Well, I will say that before we even, we, we even start talking like.
[McCool]: And you are going over?
[Undertaker]: I’m going over? Yeah, I’m going over. That’s a no, but no, I have to say this. If I had anything left in the tank, you’re the one guy that I would consider coming out of retirement to work with you.
[Gunther]: That means a lot, like honestly.”
The Hall of Famer said that he was a fan of the Austrian Grappler ever since he saw him perform at the Clash At The Castle PLE.
McCool then asked them if the match would be hard-hitting, something that the Ring General agreed on, though he said he would follow whatever Taker says, comparing the legend to being a Senpai.
“[Undertaker]: I mean, again, from the moment that I saw you at the Clash at the Castle, I was like, dang, I would have loved to have worked with you.
[McCool]: Okay, enough of the lovey dovey, like hard hitting, like what would happen?
[Gunther]: Yeah, for sure. I mean, I would need to listen. He’s the senpai, I’m the young boy in that.”
Taker continued by talking about how they would set up the match and said that he would be the obvious babyface in the feud.
Gunther responded to this by saying that he would cut a promo saying that he would want to go out second because if he went first, the WWE legend’s long entrance would cool him down. The iconic wrestler was amazed by this and praised this strategy. The conversation was as follows:
“[Undertaker]: No, well, there would have been, I mean, I could see the setup. I mean, there would have been some kind of really dramatic setup to set the heat for the, you know, for the angle.
[McCool]: Who’s babyface? You?
[Undertaker]: Yeah. Obviously, with this, I mean, with this guy here kidding me.
[Gunther]: I would have definitely cut a promo where I demand to walk out second in that match. Because if I walk out first after that entrance, I’m cool down again. I’m not ready to go.
[Undertaker]: That was total strategy!
[Gunther]: It would be, I would focus on that. Get my, get the best position going into that match.
[McCool]: There you go, yeah, that’s smart.
[Gunther]: I feel like it would make sense
[Undertaker]: That’s next-level stuff right there.”
You can hear the entire conversation in the video below, beginning at the 1:04:11 mark.
A match between these two would be something every wrestling fan would enjoy; however, they have to wait to see what lies in store for Gunther, as he has currently taken time off to deal with a brutal face injury he suffered at SummerSlam.
