Saudi Arabia is set to host WWE WrestleMania 43, and rumors suggest the company may call on retired legends for special attraction matches. Given WWE’s long-standing relationship with the country, some dream matches could finally come true.
In this article, we explore five matches that Saudi Arabia might want to see at WrestleMania 43.
Before we begin, please note that this is a fantasy booking, and the matches on the final card may differ significantly from those mentioned here.
The Rock And Stone Cold Steve Austin Renew Their WWE Rivalry One More Time
Starting with a classic rivalry, the one that defined the Attitude Era, The Rock and Steve Austin. The premise for the feud would be Rock returning after a lengthy hiatus from the company, thanks to his acting career, and immediately running roughshod all over the place as he is the Final Boss.
The Great One would be shown abusing his power, stripping titles from champions he deemed unworthy, or showing blatant favoritism. His misuse of power reaches its peak when he interferes in the Royal Rumble 2027 to make one of his favorites win, but just as about to act, we hear glass shattering,
The biggest anti-authority figure in the history of WWE, Stone Cold Steve Austin, makes his way to the ring and delivers a stunner to a surprise Rock. This reignites their rivalry, and the only stage that suits this dream match is WrestleMania 43.
The result could see The Rock losing and Austin giving the crowd a feel-good moment.
The Match Every WWE Fan Has Been Wanting For A Long Time, The Rock Vs Roman Reigns
Two different generations of the same family, it is a clash made for the grandest stage of them all. The feud could be set up late next year, at SummerSlam. Roman Reigns has turned face, thanks to his humbling experience over the last 2 years. This sets The Rock off, who had acknowledged his cousin to be the Tribal Chief.
The Brahma Bull returns to WWE and costs The Tribal Chief his match. The next night, The Rock verbally tears into him and calls for his expulsion from the Tribe. He even allies with Solo Sikoa and the MFT. He starts making the lives of the original Bloodline members hell.
While this is a special attraction match, it also shines a light on other members, as they could have a WrestleMania feud as well. The stipulation for the match will be Tribal Warfare, with Reigns going over and cementing his place at the head of the table.
The Undertaker And Shawn Michaels Revive A Classic WWE Rivalry
WrestleMania 25 and 26 saw some of the best matches between these two legends, with Taker emerging the winner in both encounters. The last time these Hall of Famers faced each other, it turned out to be a tepid affair.
Times have changed, with The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels now shaping WWE’s future. Taker is leading LFG, and Michaels is running NXT. The feud begins as a cold war near WrestleMania, with Taker upset that his LFG prodigies aren’t getting the spotlight on NXT.
HBK explains that a stacked roster takes time to develop, but The Undertaker orders his guys to grab attention by any means necessary. They run wild on NXT, disrupting everything, while Michaels tries to manage the chaos without getting physical. Taker doesn’t hold back, escalating tensions until Triple H intervenes.
On RAW, the three meet to settle the matter. Taker pushes Michaels, goading him to settle things in the ring. Michaels resists, reminding Taker they’re both retired, but Taker taunts him further, suggesting Michaels should retire from NXT, too.
Before Taker can finish, he takes a Sweet Chin Music and the match is set. Michaels wins, and in a rare show of respect, Taker gives his iconic bow.
AJ Styles Challenges Shawn Michaels To See Who Truly Is The Best In The WWE
This match-up has been on every fan’s dream match list since Styles’ debut in the WWE. Along with being a special attraction, this can be a masterclass in both in-ring action and storytelling.
This can be set at Royal Rumble 2027, as AJ Styles is in his final stretch. He tries one last time to win the Rumble but fails. He is broken, and he expresses his frustration next week on RAW, saying he wanted to end his career at WrestleMania knowing he was the best, but failed.
That very week on NXT, we see Shawn Michaels in the ring addressing the audience when a hooded figure attacks him, and it is revealed to be Styles. He takes the mic and says. “To be the best, I have to beat the best, and who better than Mr. WrestleMania, so Shawn. Why don’t you step in for one last time with me, and we can settle this?”
Michaels doesn’t heed this. So Styles leaves caution to the wind and just runs roughshod on NXT. You could even have him beat down the NXT Champ and take his title away as a hostage to get Michaels to agree. Finally, this erratic behavior gets to Shawn, who agrees to a bout. The match could see Styles winning and both stars putting on a show of respect to each other.
John Cena Brings His Career To A Full Circle By Facing His First WWE Opponent, Kurt Angle
This is purely a spectacle match, with WWE convincing both these stars to come out of retirement for one night only. The storyline can be, Kurt Angle appears on RAW after the Royal Rumble and fires the first shot, saying that he is healthier than ever and wants to go for one last time. But he wants to do it his way and calls out John Cena.
He states how he had an ending he did not like and was offended by the fact that Cena never even acknowledged him as an opponent on his retirement tour. He asks Cena to do right for one last time. The Cenation Leader, being the man he is, agrees but says it is a favour for Kurt Angle, as he was his first opponent.
The match can see Angle actually surprising everyone with his athleticism after years away from the ring. Cena, who initially tried to go easy on Angle, is surprised and gets serious about the bout. The match switches gears with both the greats giving it their all, and unlike their first encounter, Cena wins, truly bringing an end to both their in-ring careers.
