Mercedes Mone: 2024 Biography, Net Worth, Family, Income

Mercedes Veranado better known as Mercedes Mone was born on 26th January 1992, in Fairfield, California. She is a professional wrestler, and actor currently signed to WWE.

Mone began her wrestling career after training at and debuting for New England promotion Chaotic Wrestling in 2010. As Mercedes VK, she also competed for several other independent promotions such as Big Time Wrestling, Beyond, and NWA. In Chaotic she worked her way up into women’s title contention capturing the title in 2011. She would go on to hold it for a then-record-setting period of 378 days before vacating the title the following year when she signed a deal with WWE.

Once in WWE’s developmental brand NXT, she underwent the obligatory name change, becoming Sasha Banks in the process. Upon debuting, she entered the tournament to crown the first-ever NXT Women’s Champion, but failed to get past the first round. The loss proved to be the making of Banks, who turned heel attacking new champion Paige.

The heel turn led to Banks creating her Boss persona, which pushed her to the forefront of the women’s division. Banks was an integral part of the growth of NXT as The Boss and became involved in the race for NXT Women’s Championship alongside fellow game-changers Bayley, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair.

All four women were embroiled in rivalry over the title and would go on to change the perception of women’s wrestling in the company. Their wrestling styles and matches helped usher in a new era that was dubbed the Women’s Evolution.

Banks would capture the gold by pinning Charlotte in a Fatal Four Way match that also featured Lynch and Bayley at NXT TakeOver: Rival. The Boss successfully defended the title against Charlotte and then Lynch before all three made their main roster debut as part of WWE’s campaign to revitalise and legitimise the Diva’s division.

Banks joined the main roster while still NXT women’s champ and had unfinished business with Bayley. They met in two ground-breaking matches over the title. The first came at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn and is widely regarded as one of the best women’s matches of all time, while the second was the first-ever women’s 30-minute Iron-Man Match in WWE history.

Upon joining the main roster Banks continued to shine and feud over the Divas Championship with her fellow Four Horsewomen, Charlotte and Lynch. All three would clash at WrestleMania 32 in 2016 for the newly introduced WWE Women’s Championship. Although unsuccessful, Banks would remain in the title scene and enter a feud with Charlotte that resulted in them exchanging the Raw Women’s Championship reigns four times in quick succession plus competing in the first-ever women’s WWE PPV main event and Hell in a Cell match.

Banks continued to make history as the first woman to compete in a match in the Middle East with Alexa Bliss followed by participation in the inaugural women’s Royal Rumble match and Elimination Chamber match.

More firsts followed in 2019 as she was crowned the first-ever WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion alongside Bayley. Then again in 2021 as she was one of the first two Black women to headline WrestleMania when she faced Bianca Belair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 37 Night One.

During this time Sasha Banks also became the first WWE Superstar to enter the Star Wars Universe. In 2020 she appeared in The Mandalorian as Koska Reeves.

In May 2022 Banks and Naomi walked out of the promotion after disagreeing with the creative direction planned for the duo and vacated the Women’s Tag Team Titles in the process.

After officially becoming a free agent in January 2023 and debuted in New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Wrestle Kingdom 17 to confront the inaugural IWGP Women’s Champion, KAIRI. Mone would win the title at NJPW Battle In The Valley 2023 and defend it once before dropping it to Mayu Iwatani at Stardom All-Star Grand Queendom.

While competing for the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship, Mone suffered a serious ankle injury that kept her out of action for a year.

In May of 2024, Mercedes Mone officially joined AEW on a multi-year contract. Upon becoming All Elite, Mone quickly won the TBS Championship and is a prominent figure in the women’s division.
