The WWE Hall Of Famer Who Believes They Had

Jim Ross spoke about why he thought he had “too much power” while he served as WWE‘s Head of Talent Relations for seven pivotal years.

On an episode of his podcast, “Grilling JR,” Ross delved into his tenure as WWE’s Head of Talent Relations and why he believes Vince McMahon chose him to replace J.J. Dillion in this critical role.

He trusted my experience and my logic, and he saw how I communicated with the talents,

Ross noted. He explained that Dillion, despite being a good man, had “kind of aged out” in McMahon’s eyes. “J.J. allowed himself to get overexposed,” Ross added, indicating that McMahon was looking for someone fresh. He emphasised:

Here’s a guy that’s been in the business for over 20 years, he’s a student of the game. He doesn’t want any of the boy’s spots, he doesn’t want to be a manager, he doesn’t want to be a whatever, he doesn’t want to be a talent—and I didn’t. I wanted to contribute to the company’s success.

Reflecting on his legacy, Ross acknowledged that he may have been perceived as having too much power during his run.

I think I got too much power, I think that I was perceived as having too much power.
